Allergies & Other Sensitivities

Allergies and sensitivities can often be downplayed, but if you are a sufferer you know how debilitating allergy symptoms can be. These reactions, whether mild or severe, are indicators of an underlying imbalance in your immune system.

Your immune system provides the important defense of your body from outside and inside attacks, but this system can become overwhelmed or confused. Your immune system may grow weak in the fight against infections or become hyper-reactive to foods, chemicals and more.

Just like all illnesses, allergies and sensitivities don’t come from bad luck. There are underlying causes of these immune imbalances whether the symptoms are constant, come and go, affect your skin, your lungs, your eyes, your stomach, or any other part of your body. We cannot stress enough the importance of understanding these causes, as they can have an incredibly large impact on your overall health.

We want to be a part of your relief team. Come learn about holistic methods for improving allergy symptoms.

Anxiety & Stress

Do you ever feel anxious? Do you frequently feel overwhelmed by your emotions? Is your emotional well-being interfering with your ability to have a fulfilled and healthy life? Constant worry, anxiety attacks, and blanket diagnoses like “generalized anxiety” have triggers that need to be addressed, and sources that need to be ascertained.

Anxiety and the loss of your emotional well-being are typically more than just what’s going on in your head. Large contributors to these symptoms can be nutritional deficiencies, neurotransmitter or hormone imbalances, emotional or physical trauma, infections or toxic overload.

Medications can be taken to dull these symptoms and help you cope - they may even be necessary at times - but at Well Within, we believe it is your right to know there may be other options, and that healing is possible, returning you to an emotional feeling of normalcy.

Come learn about holistic methods for managing stress and let us support your body’s resilience.

Chronic Fatigue

Sick and tired of being sick and tired?

In our fast-paced and busy lives, it can feel like it’s normal to be tired all the time. We frequently resort to using caffeine, sugar, and other stimulants just to keep us going. We at Well Within want to help eradicate the untruth that insists you can only feel vital and energetic if you are artificially amped up.

You may have been disregarded or treated poorly when seeking help for your fatigue or poor energy. Or perhaps you feel that because you are a mom or a student, etc., you are condemned to unending exhaustion.

While these are important factors, and feeling overworked and fatigued can happen to anyone on occasion, a body in good health is designed to wake readily, work exuberantly throughout the day, and as the evening draws to a close, ease into a state of rest so that you can sleep soundly through the night. Morning exhaustion, daily fatigue, and poor sleep are all signs of deeper issues.

We find great joy in helping people regain an exuberance for life! Come learn about holistic methods for improving your energy.

Chronic Joint Pain

Inflammation. Inflammation. Inflammation. If you suffer from chronic joint pain, chances are you’ve heard this word more than you care to, and you may not feel that you fully understand it. It probably doesn’t feel like it does justice to the discomfort and difficulty that it causes in your life.

While it is absolutely true that inflammation is likely the culprit of your pain, a diagnosis ending in “itis” still only tells us what the symptom is. “Arthr-itis” tells us that there is “joint”-“inflammation.” But what is causing that inflammation?

Pain is your body’s warning signal that there is something wrong. We want to help you understand that signal and be a part of the team helping you find an answer. Doing so will give your body the best chance at health as well as the best chance to prevent further damage.

Whether the inflammation is from an injury or from an unknown source there is always an underlying cause that is inhibiting your body from healing like it was designed to. You may need your nerves rehabilitated or your structure adjusted. You may need to replenish your body’s nutrients to provide the building blocks for healing, or you might need to eliminate the toxicity that is perpetuating the inflammatory reaction. You might even need to address a trauma-related stress from the event of injury. You might need a little of all of these. Whatever the treatment will include, it will be specific to your body’s needs and administered with the same consideration.

Depression

Chronic depression can develop for many reasons, and often by the time it is diagnosed it can be hard to know how it came about. Chronic depression is neither a completely psychological condition nor a purely physical condition. Depression from emotional circumstances will affect the body, and depression from physical imbalances will affect you emotionally. This makes it clear that to fully recover from depression we need to address all the possible contributors.

Nutritional imbalances can prevent the body from producing the needed chemicals and hormones for normal emotional balance. Toxicity, whether from metals, foods or infections, can do this as well. Even traumas, such as concussions, can leave residual damage that interferes with the body’s natural processing of emotions.

Your body and your emotions cannot be separated, so that a healthier body can mean healthier emotional wellbeing. Come learn about holistic methods for living with greater emotional health.

We are very sensitive to the use of medications for depression. Our hope is that all our patients using medications for their emotional wellness will be able to come off of them and have happy balanced lives without chemical assistance. We encourage our patients to work with their medical doctors to manage their medications.

Headaches & Migraines

Tension, migraine, throbbing, sharp, aching, pulsing, cluster, nauseating, “the normal kind”

Headaches come in a wide variety, but we want you to know that there is nothing “normal” about chronic headaches. Headaches are not meant to be a regular part of your body’s function.

Headaches, like all symptoms, are an indication of an underlying imbalance in your body. As many of our patients attest, it is not always simple to find what that imbalance is. Headaches can come from weaknesses in your neurology caused by head trauma during sports, during play, or from car collisions. They can come from food sensitivities, or from chemical sensitivities to cleaners or perfumes. They can even come from hormonal imbalances or stress. When headaches are really out of control, they are usually caused by an assortment of these imbalances and exposures.

It sounds daunting, but we approach headaches the same way we approach all health concerns. We utilized our clinical experience and our specialized techniques to educate you and help you find relief.

Nervous System Disorders

Your nervous system is your body’s communication highway and is so vital to life that a disconnect, depending on the location, can cause symptoms as severe as paralysis or as final as death. It was believed for a long time that injury or degeneration in our nervous system was permanent. We now know this is not true and that the nervous system can heal.

Functional disconnects in this system can cause concussion symptoms, vertigo, deafness, dyslexia, vision issues, headaches, memory issues, neuropathy, paralysis, tremors, muscular dystrophy and so on. Whether the nervous system disconnect is in the facial nerves, the hands, arms, legs, or wherever. It’s possible for senses to return, movement to improve and normal lives to be achieved.

Metabolic & Hormonal Issues

The word “metabolism” has been misunderstood and often attributed to one factor: weight. However, while weight can be an indicator of the state of your metabolic health, there is much more involved with this vital process of the body than our physical appearance. It is a process by which we either thrive or decline.

Your body’s metabolism actually refers to your body’s energy system and it includes numerous organs, not an ambiguous process that is arbitrarily “fast” in some people and “slow” in others. Your body’s ability to create and maintain energy is regulated by your thyroid, your adrenals, your blood sugar balance, your male/female hormone producing organs, and your brain!

With so many working parts, it is not hard to fathom that the metabolism can develop imbalances and thus create symptoms in numerous ways.

Some of the most common imbalances manifest in the thyroid and male/female hormone systems. You may be one of the many individuals who has had their thyroid tested - because all the symptoms correlate - only to have the labs come back “normal.” This is pretty common for testosterone labs in male hormone concerns too. While it’s great your labs don’t fall into a clinically low or high state, we believe that your body should function optimally, and that requires looking at labs a little differently. We consider a “functional range” that gives us insight into what is happening in your body, so we can help educate you about your health.
